NEWSLETTER

VOL.6 ISSUE 7

Our July partner newsletter features updates for your National Make-A-Will Month campaign—along with product updates, new resources, events, and opportunities for partners like you!

It’s that time of year: National Make-A-Will Month

National Make-A-Will Month is just around the corner — our most important moment of the year to inspire supporters to create their wills and make a lasting impact by sharing your Bequest product.

Last year, partners raised $66 million in bequest commitments through outreach, with National Make-A-Will Month outreach representing nearly 40% of all dollars raised through partner outreach in 2024.

Here are four actions you can still take:

  1. Request outreach! If you haven’t already, connect with your Strategist by Friday, August 8th to request your customized campaign content.

  2. Schedule your outreach! Already have your content delivered? Now’s the time to set your send dates! Make sure to coordinate with your Comms team to schedule all your pieces — initial, follow-up, board, staff, volunteer, and any A/B tests — in August.

  3. Check Portal! We recommend logging into Portal every few days to keep an eye on your progress to stay on top of stewardship strategies.

  4. Review the Marketing Library! Find everything you need — from sample emails to graphics, postcards, and more — in our Marketing Library (explore both the National Make-A-Will Month and National Family Day Campaign Assets).

On a final note, it’s worth remembering that National Make-A-Will Month is more than just an opportunity to generate bequest commitments; it’s an opportunity to empower your supporters. Last year alone, 17,000 people created a will because of partner outreach.

🧰 Product Corner

Single Sign-On (SSO) functionality is now available in Partner Portal!

We’ve made Single Sign-On (SSO) available in Partner Portal to enhance security and streamline access for our partners. SSO allows users to log in with one set of credentials across platforms. As of June 2025, FreeWill supports SSO for Google Cloud Identity, and Okta. To learn more check out the Help Center guide and then reach out to partnersupport@freewill.com directly to have SSO enabled. Please note: Partners typically need to engage IT resources at their organization in order to get SSO set up.

Improvements to the user experience for FreeWill estate planning tools!

With new user-friendly improvements to the login flow, including required account creation, your supporters can now more easily pick up right where they left off and make updates to their existing plans.

CRM API integration now available for the Smart Giving Suite!

Partners can now build custom CRM integrations for Smart Gift (in addition to Planned Gift) data using FreeWill’s public API, no more relying solely on flat file transfers. This unlocks seamless, scalable workflows for high-volume partners and federated orgs. Reach out to apisupport@freewill.com if you'd like to build this for your organization.

Coming Soon: Smart Giving Widgets!

We’re excited to announce that the Smart Giving Widget is coming out of beta at the end of the month! Smart Giving Suite partners now have the option to embed widgets for a seamless giving experience directly on your site with just a few lines of code. The widgets are aimed at keeping donors on your page, boosting trust, improving tracking, and making giving effortless. The widget instructions are already available in the Partner Portal under Customizations. Need help? Check out our Help Center guide or reach out to our support team directly.

📣 New Resources

Have you checked out the Marketing Library or Partner Resource Hub lately? We’ve added some new resources, highlighted here just for you:

  • Evergreen Charitable Gift Annuities (CGAs) One Pager: This informational one-pager gives supplemental information on CGAs, how they work, who can benefit from them, and who to contact to learn more.

  • Asset Inventory Guide: This guide can be shared with donors and other individuals to document and track key assets, providing a clear roadmap for loved ones and executors! You can find this resource on the Partner Resource Hub or customize it through the Marketing Library here.

  • Leave-Behind Legacy Postcard: If you have an upcoming event, use this card to capture potential planned giving donors and request more information about how they got involved with your organization.

  • Smart Giving Suite/Planned Giving Suite Brochure: If you’re a partner with both Planned and Smart Giving Suites, share your products through this brochure for supporters to learn more about non-cash giving.

  • Key Terms for FreeWill Partners: This resource defines important marketing terms, legal terminology, and fundraising acronyms that may be unfamiliar to those beginning the work of planned or smart giving.
